School starts up tomorrow for the final portion of the year. On the up side, the two months after March break have a tendency to fly by. The down side to this is that they fly by because we are all so busy with meetings and other commitments that we can barely see straight. Oh well; I usually am more efficient with my work when I am busy.
The hard part is getting used to being back in full swing. It is terribly easy to fall into the habit of sleeping late and doing whatever else I want with one's day, and it is not so terribly easy to get out of the habit. Every teacher I saw today was carrying an expression of dread feebly masked by pretend excitement. It's really just tomorrow that we are all dreading; once it is over, we will be fully back into routine and moving on with our professional lives.
I'm also dreading the day our contracts come out. It is terrifying to think that this year, there is a possibility there will not be one for me.
On a happier note, I started reading Eat, Pray, Love last night, and it is glorious. Elizabeth Gilbert has a beautiful writing style. Her words come together in such a unique and powerful but seemingly effortless way, which is exactly how all good writing should feel. Despite the fact that her book doubtless went through extensive editing, the writing seems as though it was simply a brilliant first draft that poured from Gilbert's head to the page late one night during some marvelous creative epiphany. This, I suppose, is the hallmark of good editing - a product that is flawless yet natural.
I am only a few pages in, and already I love this book. It is inspiring in such a way that after I put it down, I couldn't fall asleep because I wanted to jump up and write and write and write until I could mimic Gilbert's style perfectly. Sigh.

I heard that book was good. I will need to check it out! Love reading your blog, it is just as natural as Gilbert (from what I can tell from your critique). Hope you are doing well!
